CDC will launch 2014 Tips From a Former Smoker Campaign in February

On February 3, 2014, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) will launch the the 2014 phase of its Tips From Former Smokers (Tips) campaign to continue to promote tobacco use awareness, offer an in-depth look at the negative health effects of smoking, and encourage tobacco cessation. The campaign features former smokers who describe their stories of cancer, heart disease, amputations, and lung damage caused by tobacco use. For example, Terrie Hall, a former participant, shared her life story after throat cancer and surgery. Through this campaign, the CDC aims to highlight new findings about smoking and cancer, such as an increased risk of lung cancer today than 50 years ago.
